Sanur is on the east coast, facing the sunrise rather than the sunset. It is older, quieter and more residential than the south-west, with a long seafront path, mature trees and a layout that has changed comparatively little.

On the south-east coast, roughly opposite the airport peninsula. Reaching it from the south-west means crossing the island rather than continuing along the coast.

What Sanur is actually like

Its character comes from the water and from daylight. The reef keeps the sea calm, the path runs the length of the coast and is genuinely walkable, and the area is at its most pleasant early rather than late.

Getting around, and what to plan for

The seafront path is the defining piece of infrastructure and it makes an early appointment easy to combine with a walk. The east coast is calmer and less trafficked than the south-west, though getting there from the airport or from Seminyak takes real time because it is a cross-island journey.
