How BaliBetween works
The whole sequence, including the parts that do not go well.
BaliBetween is a concierge for spa and massage bookings across Bali, opening one area at a time. This page describes exactly what happens between asking for a treatment and paying for one, including the parts that do not go well.
1. You describe the treatment
You give us four things: the treatment you want, whether you are in Seminyak or Petitenget, the day, and which part of the day. There are three windows — morning (09:00–12:00), afternoon (12:00–17:00) and evening (17:00–21:00) — and parties from one to eight guests.
We ask for a window rather than an exact minute because a venue can only agree to a time it can actually hold. Choosing 14:37 would suggest a precision nobody has promised.
There is no sign-up. You are asked for a mobile number only once there is a request worth verifying.
2. We look for a time BaliBetween already holds
Some venues give BaliBetween reserved capacity — slots they have agreed we may hold directly. If one of those matches what you asked for, you can take it immediately, and the page will say that it is a time we already hold. That is a different and stronger statement than "available".
Reserved inventory is always searched first. It is the only path where nothing has to be asked, and it is the fastest.
3. If we hold nothing, we ask venues directly
This is the part most booking sites skip. If there is no reserved match, BaliBetween contacts up to five verified venues in your area and asks each one the same specific question: can you hold this exact time, for this treatment, for this many guests, and at what price?
Venues answer with a yes, a no, or an alternative. They have a short window to reply, and a late reply is re-checked rather than accepted — a confirmation that arrives after the offer has lapsed is not treated as a confirmation.
You can watch this happen. The waiting page shows the request's real state: how many venues were reachable, how many have answered, and what they said. If the answers take a while, it says that, rather than showing a spinner and hoping.
4. You see only what a venue confirmed
When a venue confirms, its answer appears with the venue's own price for that treatment. You choose one. If you take it, BaliBetween holds that time for you for a short period while you complete payment.
If you take nothing, the request is withdrawn and any time a venue was holding for you is released. Nothing is left open in the background.
When money moves, and when it does not
You pay after a venue has confirmed the exact time and you have accepted it — not to create a request, and not to find out whether something is available.
A payment is only treated as successful when the payment provider has confirmed it. Until then the booking is not confirmed, and the page says so. If the payment fails, the confirmation is not treated as a booking, and the held time is released.
What happens when it does not work
Three things can go wrong, and each has a designed outcome rather than a support ticket:
- Nobody can do your time. You are told plainly that no venue in the area could confirm it, and how many venues were reachable at all. If it is systematically hard to fill that kind of request, that is recorded as a gap in supply rather than smoothed over.
- A venue withdraws before you pay. The offer disappears from the list. It is not shown as pending, and it is not quietly left there.
- A venue withdraws after you have paid. The booking enters recovery with an open case, the price you paid is unchanged, and the withdrawn option is removed from what you can see. Recovery is a real process with a named owner, not an apology email.
What BaliBetween does not do
It is worth being explicit, because a spa booking site that overstates itself is worse than one that does not exist:
- It cannot take a request in an area where booking is not open yet. Those areas carry guides only, and the page says so.
- It does not offer in-villa or freelance therapists in this version, because they cannot be verified the same way a premises-based business can.
- It does not provide medical treatment, diagnosis, injectables, or anything invasive.
- It does not publish ratings or reviews it has not collected from completed bookings.
- It does not rank venues by who pays it the most.
Booking opens when the venue network is ready
BaliBetween confirms every time with the venue before showing it to you, so the service opens area by area, once enough venues in that area are on it. Until then, the payment and confirmation steps are switched off rather than half-working.
